In cities, towns and villages across the country, takeaway restaurants are flourishing.
From my own background starting and growing independent restaurants in London, I can speak with first-hand experience of the dynamism of a sector where small, family-run businesses compete with international chains.
The British Takeaway Campaign (BTC), a new industry umbrella body led by Just Eat, launched today (Monday), urging the Government to recognise its economic, social and cultural contribution to the UK and to back its growth by boosting training and access to skills.
From the well-known chains to the small, independent restaurants that characterise the sector, everyone loves their local takeaway. And as these takeaways embrace new technologies and adapt to our changing appetites, so too do they become increasingly accessible and in demand.
